VARCA: Chadvaddo defeated Fatrade A 2-1 and lifted the trophy in the final of the Late Polly Memorial inter-ward tournament match, played at Varca ground, recently.
Chadvaddo started the match on forefront moves with Elvis and Patras missed two early chances in the 2nd and 5th minute as both shot into the safe hands of Fatrade keeper. Oswan of Fatrade connected a well measured ball to Relino but failed to connect inside the rival box.
The first goal of the final was scored by Elvis for Chadvaddo with an arrow bond shot in the 29th minute. Within ten minutes, Swington doubled the lead for Chadvaddo with a placement shot. With just one minute left for the final whistle, Fatrade pulled one goal back through Jenito.
The winners collected Rs,30,000 and runners-up collected Rs 20,000, Patras of Chadvaddo was awarded the best defender prize while Sedney of Fatrade received the best striker of final prize. Elvis of Chadvaddo was awarded the best midfielder prize and Zedane Carvalho of Repravaddo was awarded youngest player of the tournament.
Fr Candido Fernandes parish priest of Varca church was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Valanka Alemao, CEO Churchill Brothers, Roland Fernandes, Sarpanch of Varca, Franky, GFA match commissioner and other dignitaries.
