PONDA: Chaitanya Gaonkar displayed exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament, ultimately defeating Siddhiraj Gaunkar to clinch the All-Goa Open Rapid Tournament organised by Serials Club & Bhatikar’s Charitable Trust in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association, at Rukmini Hall, Ponda, recently. Chaitanya won the title with a total of 7.5 points
CM Niraj Saripalli gave a commendable performance and secured the runner-up position with 7 points. Aryan Shamrao Raikar showcased his expertise, finishing in a respectable third place with 7 points.

The tournament’s awards were presented by chief guest Dr Ketan Bhatikar, in the presence of Ashesh Keni (secretary, GCA), Sagar Sakordekar (president of PTCA), Anushka Naik (tournament director), Anish Naik (president of Serials Club), Ramesh Patil (HR head of Colgate), Anand Kurtikar (member of PTCA), IA Nandhini Saripalli (chief arbiter) and SNA Ridikesh Dilip Vernekar (deputy chief arbiter).
