PANJIM: Challenger Sports Club scored a three-wicket win over Shirgao Sports Club in a low-scoring game of Goa Cricket Association A Division match at GCA ground, Porvorim, on Thursday.
Batting first, Shirgao Sports Club failed to stick to their plan as they were bundled out for just 87 runs in 23.3 overs.
Vishwatjit Vaigankar and Pratish Shirgaonkar gave Shirgao a decent start but once the duo was sent back to the pavilion, Shirgao lost wickets at regular intervals.
Siddesh Govekar was the star bowler for Challenger SC picking up four wickets giving away just 24 runs. Sagar Gaonkar also pocketed three wickets giving away 19 runs. In reply, it wasn’t an easy chase for Challenger SC who lost their opener Sanjay Rathod for a duck in the first over itself. However, despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Challenger SC were able to chase down the target in 20.1 overs with three wickets in hand.
Vaman Gaonkar was impressive with the ball with figures of 16/3.
