MARGAO: Chandor Club prevailed over St Anthony Sports Club, Colva 5-4 via the tie-reaker to sail into the semi-final of All Goa Wilred Leisure Cup inter village football tournament organized by Wilred Leisure Sports Club at Church ground, Curtorim, Tuesday. The teams were tied 2-2 at normal period.
In a pulsating encounter, the teams displayed attacking brand of soccer. Stanley Hadangali and Isac D’Costa were the goal getters for Chandor club at normal period while Ryan Fernandes and Belson Fernandes were the goal getters for St Anthony SC.
In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Moses D Sa, Socorro Fernandes, Ivan Pinto and Sevraj D’Costa were on target for Chandor Club while Maxon Fernandes, Jovisco Fernandes and David Costa converted for Colva team.
On Monday, Cana Benaulim Sporting Association prevailed over Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 4-3 via tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals. There was no score at full time.
Both the teams started the game on an attacking fashion. However, goalkeepers had torrid time in keeping their citadel intact.
Crossing over, the teams showed urgency and launched barrage of attacks and came close in scoring but they failed to beat the rearguard.
In the ensuing penalty shoot out, Macwin Gracias, Stalin Baptists, Clsetern Fernandes and Jaison Pereira were on target for Cana Benaulim Sporting Association while Bersel Viegas, Silveter Carvalho and Agio Antao converted for Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club.
