RAIA: Chandor Club defeated Carmona SC 3-2 to lift the Lourdes Soccer Cup in the final of the Lourdes Soccer inter-village football tournament organised by Ambelim SC at Ambelim ground.
Vilton Fernandes opened the scoreline for Chandor Club in the 10 minute but the joy was short-lived as Mavern Gracias equalised for Carmona SC in the 17th minute.
As the match progressed in the second half, Valentino doubled the lead for Chandor Club in the 46th minute. Then a foxy move by Mavern Gracias of Carmona Club worked out well with Mavern Gracias, who equalised in the 47th minute. It was Valentino of Chandor Club who netted the match winner in the 59th minute.
Fr Romeo Godinho was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Camilo Dias, Fr Shawn D’Silva, Jacinto D’Silva, Benjamin Silva, John Silva, football promoter of Ambelim, other dignitaries and the club officials.
