RAIA: Chandor Club outplayed Nerul Sports Club 2-1 to enter the final of the Bro Eulalio Vaz memorial football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, at Don Bosco Oratory, ground, Fatorda, on Sunday.
Nerul Sports Club stuck the first goal in the 11th minute of play after a shot taken from the box by Nichil Naik, while Chandor Club’s Joaquim Carvalho converted the penalty kick as Nerul Sports Club’s Mathew Gonsalves handled the ball in danger area in 25th minute to level the score. At half-time, the scorelist read 1-1.
In second half, it was Joaquim who again tried a longranger shot which hit the rival crossbar and went away. Nerul Sports Club’s Aniket shot deflected Chandor Club player Cruz and went away. It was Alerich Peixito of Chandor Club who scored the winning goal in the 56th minute of play to take Chandor Club for the title clash in the final to be played on November 26, against Sao Jose de Areal.
Fr Leo Pereira, administrator of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, presented the man-of-match to Joaquim Carvalho of Chandor Club.
