RAIA: Chandor Club outplayed Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 5-1 to enter the finals of 48th Chandor Seamen Cup football tournament organised by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Thursday.
Both teams started on an impressive note and Don Bosco Oratory opened their account in the 9th minute through Myron Fernandes, who took a power-packed shot into the Chandor Club nets.
Chandor Club continued to look out for an equaliser which evaded them till the half-time. Don Bosco Oratory led 1-0 at lemon time.
Crossing over, Chandor Club lads seemed to play their hearts out determined to snatch victory on their home ground. Chandor Club was rewarded for their hard work when Joaquim headed into the Don Bosco Oratory nets off a corner in the 42nd minute. Within three minutes luck smiled again on Chandor Club when a shot hit the cross bar and rebounded into the field of play and fell at the feet of Sildon Peixoto, who made no mistake to take a powerful snapshot which caught the Don Bosco Oratory keeper napping. Don Bosco Oratory started exerting pressure but shot wide on two occasions. Chandor Club pumped the 4th goal through Vitorino Fernandes off a midfield pass from Sevaraj.
Seven minutes from the final hooter, Alreach Peixoto scored the 5th goal when he deflected a shot from the midfield to the utter surprise of Don Bosco Oratory custodian.
Chandor Club will meet Curtorim Gymkhana in the finals on September 17. Man-of-the-match was awarded to Alreach Peixoto.
