Chandor outplay 7-man Goa Velha SC, in quarters

RAIA: Chandor Club marched into the quarter-finals defeating seven-man Goa Velha Sports Club 2-0 in the Chandor Seamen Cup organised by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Sunday. 

Goa Velha though just seven-man got into play with some sort of urgency. Ansel would have opened an account for Chandor in the 11th minute itself, if not for Chandor defender’s timely intervention. 

Chandor Club’s Brivan Dias dribbled past two players and took an accurate shot into the Goa Velha net in the 21st minute of play giving the team an opener. Chandor lads continued to exert pressure and Alreach Peixoto capitalised on a through ball from the flanks in the 25th minute to take the tally to 2-0 till the breather. 

On resumption of play, Chandor lads determined to take the advantage of seven-man opposition would have scored more had Goa Velha player Joseph Rodrigues not suffered an injury in the 43rd minute. Unable to carry, he had to leave the field of play. 

With the six-man on the field one less than minimum required to carry on the match, the referee called off the match with the final whistle in the 43rd minute.  Brivan Dias of Chandor Club was awarded man-of-the Match.
