MAPUSA: Chapora YS trounced Cunchelim SC 3-0 in the GFA’s Second Division League, at Duler stadium, here, on Sunday.
Chapora Yuvak Sangh after their easy outing having drubbed Assonora United 7-0 started in the same spirit and went into the breather leading by two goals.
It was Cunchelim’s stopper backs Jayganesh Goltekar, Shivananad Naik along with goalkeeper Pranav Amonkar who managed to stop constant attacks from the Chapora strikers in the first half an hour of the match.
Earlier in the match, Sankalp Kankonkar’s strike and Sachidanand Satelkar’s placement was blocked by Cunchelim custodian Pranav from close range.
Finally, Chapora tasted success in the 37th minute when a 25-yard rasping shot by Pratik Dhargalkar had no answer from the Cunchelim custodian.
It did not take long for Chapora to double their lead where Sachidanand Satelkar’s placement rebounded off the far post to find unmarked Sankalp Kankonkar guide the ball into the goal to make it 2-0.
Short statured but speedy Pratik Dhargalkar dribbled past a host of Cunchelim defenders and drilled a left footer past the rival custodian to make it 3-0 and net his second goal. Cunchelim lost a glorious chance to pull a goal in the 75th minute where Rohit Bharti ran on the left flank and found unmarked Malik Sounor whose placement missed the target.
At Duler ground under floodlights, Assonora United drubbed YSC Colvale 5-1. Prajot Aradekar (2), Dhiraj Goaikar (2) and Sujeet Goaikar scored for Assonora United. For Colvale Rio Fernandes scored the consolation goal.
At Guirim ground 1, Bidesh Xl managed to register a 5-3 win over Benny Xl. At Guirim ground 2, Vagator PYSC registered a solitary goal win over Goan Warriors.
