MAPUSA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh advanced into the quarter-finals of the Calangute Panchayat Soccer Cup with a hard fought 1-0 win over United Club Nerul, organised by Calangute Association, at Poriat ground, on Saturday.
The first session was dominated by the Nerul side, but their strikers failed to score.
On crossing over in the 48th minute, Aniket’s strike hit the crossbar.
Just four minutes later, Chapora took the lead, when a strike by Rohan Kamble was blocked by Nerul keeper Xavier Estrocio and the ball rolled to Aniket who tapped it into the goal to make it 1-0.
As the match progressed, Chapora’s Saprem Diukar’s hot blooded shot hit the crosspiece, while Rohan Kamble’s efforts from close was saved by keeper Xavier.
Nerul tried their best to get back in the game bubt failed.
