MAPUSA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh registered a well deserved 2-0 win over Dunes SC to lift the Milagres Soccer Cup organised by Milagres Sports Club, held at Duler Stadium under floodlights, recently.
Both the teams played attacking football right from the start of the match with Dunes striker Alberto keeping Chapora defence on their toes.
As the match progressed, Dunes were awarded a corner-kick which was taken by Jason where Alberto’s headed attempt sailed over the crossbar by inches.
In the counter attack, Maruti passed the ball to Saprem Diukar who scored the first goal in style giving no chance to the Dunes goalkeeper.
On crossing over, Dunes came up with renewed ideas in search of the equaliser, but Chapora defense stood like a rock marshaled by Akshay Vengurlekar.
Dunes almost netted the equaliser when Jason’s power-packed shot was brilliantly pushed to safety by the Chapora keeper Soma Korgaonkar.
Chapora doubled their lead in the 68th minute after a corner-kick by Nitesh Salgaonkar was headed into the goal by Saprem Diukar to make it 2-0.
