PANJIM: Chrys D’Souza bagged double podiums in the Junior Touring car 1st round of the National Racing Championship which was held at the Madras motor race track in Chennai.
After a bad start to the weekend with gearbox issues in qualifying Chrys had to swap his gearbox to a stock car gearbox which was a huge disadvantage compared to the other cars on the grid.
Having not set a time in qualifying, Chrys had to start the race at the back of the grid. Chrys had a good launch off the line moving up 3 positions into second place with Kamlesh Parmar from team N1 Racing, Mumbai in the lead. After a few laps of constant pressure from the Unimek driver, the leader Kamlesh made a mistake into the third corner moving Chrys into the lead.
From then onwards Chrys drove flawlessly maintaining his lead to take the chequered flag and win the race followed by Prabhu from Arka Motorsport Coimbatore in second and Nikunj from N1 Racing Mumbai.
