Churchill Bros FC score big win over Panjim

Sesa FA down Calangute Association 2-0; Signals stun Vasco SC 3-2; Guardian Angel SC score 1-0 win over Velsao

FATORDA: Churchill Brothers Football Club trounced Panjim Footballers 5-1 and entered the quarter-finals of the Goa Police Cup football tournament, at SAG Artifical Turf ground, Fatorda on Friday. 
Israil Gurung , Jovel Martins, Schubert Pereira, Substitute Lalmgoulen Hangsing and Foreigner Willis Plaza scored a goal each while Vallmiky Miranda scored the consolation goal for Panjim Footballers.
In a one-way traffic, Israil Gurung picked up a pass from Vinil Poojary and the former beat the Panjim Footballers goalkeeper Preston Rego with a clinical finish.
Churchill Brothers had another chance to double the lead but Lalengzama Vangchhia failed to beat the rival goalkeeper in one-to-one situation. It was a one-goal affair for most of the remaining first half but Red Machines recorded two quick strikes towards the end to head into the dressing room with a three-goal advantage. 
In the 27th minute, Vinil Poojary found left wing back Jovel Martins on the run as the last named unleashed a blistering shot. Three minutes later Schubert Pereira picked up a pass from Israil Gurung and the former’s shot  gave Red Machines a 3-0 lead. 
Panjim Footballers tried to get in the game and in the 34th minute rival defender fouled Panjim Footballers player and referee David Rebello without any hesitation awarded Panjim a freekick. The resultant free kick taken by midfielder Valmiky Miranda sent the Churchill Brothers goalkeeper Sukhadev Patil wrong way.
In the 68th minute substitute Lamgoulen Hangsingh added his name on the scorer’s list. Willis Plaza fired the last nail into the coffin with a towering header. 
Earlier, Anthony Monseratte DySP E Coy GRP and in charge of Goa Police football teams was introduced to the teams. Churchill Brothers Football Club will now meet Salgaocar Football Club in the quarter-final at SAG Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda on September 15.
In another pre quarter-final, Guardian Angel Sports Club edged past Velsao Cultural Sports Club 1-0. Clive Colaco scored the all-important goal in the 20th minute at Chowgule College Synethecic ground.  Guardian Angel Sports Club will meet FC Goa in the quarter-final at Bambolim Sports Complex, on September 15. 
At Ela Ground, Corps of Signals defeated Vasco Sports Club 3-2. Corps of Signals will meet Dempo Sports Club in the quarterfinal on September 15 at Ella Ground.
In another match, Sesa FA defeated Calangute Association 2-0. Richard and Mark scored a goal each for the winners. Sesa’a Caietan received marching orders after receiving a straight red card.
