MAPUSA: Churchill Brothers Sports Club put up a good show as they got the better of Dempo Sports Club 3-2 in a round two match of the Goa Professional League, at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday. Churchill Bros led 3-0 at half time.
The Red Machines got off to a perfect start as Nicholas Fernandes did well to win the ball from Dempo SC’s Nigerian centre-back Chika Wali and score in the ninth minute.
Then onwards, the Varca-based outfit continued in the same rhythm and doubled their advantage at the half hour mark.
Striker Pankaj Sona sent in a perfect cross to substitute Richard Costa, who finished with a deft placement.
Matters got worse for The Golden Eagles in the 36th minute as Samson Fernandes inflated the tally with a rasping drive.
Post resumption, the trend continued and Dempo SC could only pull a goal back in the 81st minute as Beevan’s flag-kick was headed in by Ali Mohammed.
Eight minutes later, Uttam Rai set up Beevan, who made it 3-2.
