MARGAO: Churchill Brothers emerged champions of the Goa Football Association U-16 South Goa Zone on Monday.
The young Red Machines finished top ahead of Salgoacar FC with better head to head record after the teams were tied with 33 points each from 12 games.
Churchill Bros had beaten Salgaocar FC 4-0 earlier in the league.
On Monday, CRSC Navelim failed to report at the Ambelim ground for the last league game, thus giving Churchill Bros full points.
“The boys performed and took individual responsibilities and functioned as one unit on the pitch. We being without our 4 regular players, representing at India U-16 camp at Odisha, displayed positive Football throughout the tournament,” said Derryl D’Souza, Churchill Bros U-16, Head Coach.
Churchill Brothers and Salgaocar FC are now qualified for the State final.
