GOGOL-MARGAO: Churchill Brothers FC and Velsao Sports and Cultural Club match ended with a goalless draw in the GFA Goa Pro League match (Relegation league) at Chowgule ground, Gogol Margao, on Saturday.
It was Churchill Brothers midfielder Jobern Cardozo who took control of the ball from Keenan Almeida and dribbled past Velsao’s Sheldon Pereira and shot from close range but goalkeeper Vipin Sharma was equal to the task in the seventh minute.
Two minutes later, Velsao midfielder Meuton Fernandes shot wide.
Churchill Bros striker Preston Histon Fernandes should have scored but the latter shot wide. The Red Machines had a chance to score through defender Kidron Neshwil Fernandes but Kidron’s move was foiled by Velsao defender Cyrus Canvi Noronha in the 12th minute.
In the second half, Chruchill Brothers coach Josefato Pedro Antonio Francisco Vales and Velsao SCC coach Eban Mesquita adopted a good defensive plan and prevented the strikers from scoring.
Churchill Brothers’ Preston Histon Fernandes’ shot was saved by Vipin in the 48th minute. Meuton Fernandes dribbled past Churchill defender Jovel Martin and took a powerful shot which was pushed to safety by Churchill keeper Sabhajit Bhattarcharjee .
