MAJORDA: Cia and Josely Dias (Calata Warriors) defeated Xerino and Stacy Rodrigues (The Fire Ball) in the mixed double badminton tournament organized by Young Boys of Pacheco Vaddo, Majorda played at Majorda, recently.
In the final, Josley and Cia played well to defeat Xerino and Stacy by straight sets 23-22, 23-22. Stacy and Xerino gave tough time to their opponent with well taken shots and baseline safe, but their efforts could not yield much desired results and had to be contended with the runners-up prize.
Fr William D’Souza, Asst Parish Priest, Majorda Church was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Xavier Pereira, guest of honour
The winners were awarded Rs 5,000 while the runners-up had to be content with Rs 3,000.
