PANJIM: The GFA has asked the Professional League and other affiliated clubs to nominate their outstanding players including Under-21 players to attend the selection trials to select the Goa team for the West Zone Hero Santosh Trophy National Football Championship to be held in Goa from September 22 to 30.
Anthony Levinio Fernandes has been selected as the head coach and Severino Fernandes as coach of the squad.
Goa has been clubbed along with Rajasthan, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Madhya Pradesh in Group B. Goa will play on September 23 against Rajasthan, on September 25 against MP and on September 27 against Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Those interested and others not signed for GFA Professional League can also attend the trials, the GFA stated.
Meanwhile, players registered for I-League and ISL Clubs are not eligible for selection as per the AIFF rules. For U-21, players must be born on or after January 1, 2000 and not later than December 31, 2002.
