PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Govind Gaude conducted a thorough review of the preparedness and plan of action, at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao Plateau, on Wednesday, ahead of the 37th National Games.
During their inspection, the Chief Minister and Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs inspected every facet of the stadium. The stadium is slated to host three high-profile events during the Games, — Badminton — starting from October 20 till 24; Fencing from October 26 till 30; and Volleyball from November 1 till 5.
The complex’s cutting-edge infrastructure and facilities stand as a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting sports and athletic talent within the region.
Expressing confidence in the preparations, Sawant said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every person for their relentless efforts in ensuring the readiness of the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium. It is well-positioned to play a significant role in ensuring the resounding success of the 37th National Games Goa 2023.”
Also present were Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel; Secretary (Sports) and CEO, National Games Organising Committee (NGOC), Swetika Sachan; Director General of Police Jaspal Singh; Dr Geeta Nagvenkar, Joint CEO, NGOC and Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa, senior officers from the Government of Goa along with Amitabh Sharma, chairman of National Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) and Executive Member of the Indian Olympic Association.
