CM, sports minister inspect Nehru Stadium

MARGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday inspected the Nehru Stadium at Fatorda that will host the inaugural ceremony of the 37th National Games on October 26. Sports Minister Govind Gaude, and other government officials were present for the inspection.

“I came to Margao to check the preparations and arrangements at the Fatorda stadium as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be coming for the inaugural ceremony. All arrangements are complete. The Games will unofficially begin on October 19. People from Fatorda and Margao should enthusiastically prepare for the inaugural ceremony.” he said.  

Sawant said the Games will have 43 sports disciplines, which is a first in the Games’ history.

“The Games will witness 49 per cent of women’s representation, which is a record for Goa. The Government of Goa, Sports Authority of Goa, Sports Department, and Indian Olympic Association, are working together for the Games.  On Tuesday, the athletes will start arriving in the State. Goans should welcome them in a big way,” he added.
