RAIA: Corjem Sports Club outplayed Cumborda Sports Club 6-5 via tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of 9-a-side football tournament organised by Sporting Club Virabhat at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
Veron opened the scoreline for Cumborda SC in the 6th minute of play, while Rhay scored the equaliser for Corjem SC in the 18th minute of the game.
At the breather, both teams remained on 1-1draw. In the second half, Myrick scored with powerful header in the 35th minute for Cumborda SC but their joy was short-lived as Corjem SC levelled the score in the 37th minute through Rhay.
Till the final whistle, both teams remained 2-2 draw and made way for penalty shoot-out to decide winner.
In resultant tie-breaker, Corjem SC score through Milagres, Glen, Lionel and Ashford, while Cumborda SC Myrik, Sam and Veron found the net.
Corjem goalkeeper Rhay Dias saved three penalties and was declared the man-of-the-match, which was presented by Baptist Fernandes.
