Corps of Signals Down Calangute AssOCIATION 4-1

Singh scores a brace while Pawan and Roshan net a goal each for the Army side

MARGAO: Corps of Signals registered a fluent 4-1 win over Calangute Association in the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League match played at Signals ground, Navelim, on Sunday.
Playing at their fortress Corps of Signals suffered a huge blow early in the game.
Hardly had they settled in the game, Calangute Association capitalised on the very first attempt of the game in the third minute through Abdulahat F.
The goal not only silenced the home fans but also gave Corps of Signals a huge task, as they were down 0-1 in the game.
But riding on the home comfort, one goal deficit didn’t look difficult as Signals constant raided the rival territory making maximum use of the flanks.
They soon levelled terms in the 10th minute through Pawan T. and once on level terms the match turned a bit slow as both sides adopted a defensive approach.
In the 20th minute S Berdolai of Signals was cautioned by the referee following his tackle on a Calangute player while Calangute’s Abdul F also went into the books for rough play.
The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
Crossing over, it was all a one sided affair. Though Calangute had their early chances, they just couldn’t keep their composure in front of the goal, as their strikers failed to connect.
Signals took the lead in the 65th minute through Th Roshan Singh. Once down by a goal, it was always going to get difficult for any opponent at Signals ground.
Signals Harshad and Th Roshan were cautioned in the second half before L Singh scored the team’s third in the 82nd minute.
With the game beyond their reach, Calangute just failed to match their opponents’ energy level.
Signals scored the fourth in the dying minutes of the game through L Singh who completed his brace.
