MARGAO: Cortalim Villagers S&SWA emerged victorious with a commanding 4-2 win over Ave Maria A&WC in the GFA U-18 Division League (Division II) Salcete Zone, at Nagoa ground.
Ave Maria A&WC’s Morrison Rato found the back of the net in the 7th minute, giving his team a promising start. However, the lead was short-lived as Cortalim Villagers S&SWA’s forward, Joyson Fernandes, displayed his prowess with two clinical strikes in the 10th and 21st minutes, tilting the scoreline in favor of his team.
As the first half progressed, Cortalim Villagers S&SWA continued to dominate the proceedings, with Valroy Dias adding to their tally in the 38th minute. Just moments later, Joyson Fernandes showcased his goal-scoring prowess once again, securing a hat-trick in the 40th minute, further solidifying his team’s lead.
In the Prosen Mandal breathed new life into the contest by slotting a goal past the opposition’s defense in the 70th minute, reducing the deficit for Cortalim.
