MARGAO: CRC, Chinchinim came from behind to overcome St Cruz Society of Poitomaddo, Cuncolim 4-3 in a thrilling encounter of Salcete Zone GFA’s 3rd Division league, at Dramapur ground, Thursday.
St Cruz Society of Poitmaddo led 2-0 at half time.
St Cruz breakthrough came in the 10th minute when striker Ramson Viegas beat the Chinchinim goalkeeper with snap shot. After taking the lead, St Cruz created couple of opportunities and in the 26th minute again Ramson struck second time to complete his brace.
Post resumption, CRC, Chinchinim exhibited better display and created umpteen forays into the rival territory. Narcisco Gomes who was in thick of action pull one back in the 59th minute.
Stunned by the reducer, St Cruz went into attacking mode and Adney Fernandes converted the spot kick in the 63rd minute after rival defender handle the ball inside the penalty box.
Down by 1-3, CRC went into aggressive mode and kept their opponents on the back foot. Narcisco broke the rival defence and reduced the deficit in the 74th minute to register his brace.
CRC took control of the game and thereafter pressed for equalizer. Alroy Moniz equalized for CRC in the 84th minute.
A shattered St Cruz conceded another goal in the 86th minute when Salvador Rebello scored the match winner to troop out worthy winners.
Chinchinim Villagers
bank on Reagan
At Mandopa ground, a triple strike by Reagan Antao helped Union of Chinchinim Villagers to humble Youth Welfare Sports Club, Passagem-Assolna 3-1.
All the goals came in the opening session, although Union of Chinchinim Villagers dominated the game.
However, it was Youth Welfare Sports Club, who took the lead in the 12th minute to put his team in front.
Undeterred with the lead, Chinchinim Villagers found the equalizer in the 27th minute when Reagan Antao cancelled the lead. Thereafter, Chinchinim Villagers were on goal riot as Reagan struck twice in the 38th and 39th minutes to notch his hat-trick.
Xamba, Xavier ‘two’
good for Maina SC
At DYSA ground, Curtorim, Maina Sports Club thrashed Macazana Welfare Club 6-2 after leading 3-0 at lemon break.
The highlight of the day was a brilliant brace piece by strikers Xamba Kuttikar and Xavier D’Silva. Maina dominated the game and trouble the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Edgar Noronha opened the scoring in the 31st minute.
Spurred by the early success, Maina intensified their attacks and doubled the lead in the 36th minute when Xavier bulge the net. In the 43rd minute, Xamba put the issue beyond doubt for Maina.
Crossing over, Maina continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and in the 52nd minute Xavier register his brace and give his team 4-0 cushion.
Down by 0-4, Macazana were desperate and reduced the margin in the 61st minute when Hubert Rebello punished the rival goalkeeper with neat finish.
Unfazed Maina made it 5-0 in the 84th minute when Venito Dias slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
A minute later, Macazana reduced the deficit when Neville Almeida pushed the ball to the far corner of the net. Xamba drove the last nail into rival coffin in the 88th minute to complete his brace.
