CALANGUTE: Michael Lobo, Calangute MLA inaugurated the newly laid Net Practice Cricket Facility at Parra in presence of Sarpanch of Parra Delilah Lobo, Dy. Sarpanch of Parra Josephine D’Cruz, Panchas Rita Pacheco, Kamla Lingudkar, Edwin Lobo, Panchas of Sangolda Nilkhant Mhapxekar and Alex Alvares besides Shivram Parsekar, Salim Sayyed and Sanjay Korgaonkar.
The inaugurated facility of Cricket Net Practice has been a dream comes true for Shivram Parsekar of Parra. The facility has been constructed at estimated cost of Rs 1.35 lakh and would be available for the young and old of Parra.
Speaking at the inaugural function Michael Lobo said “the cricket facility in our Village of Parra will greatly help youth to take to the sport rather than being involved in other distractions.”
He underlined the need for such facilities in every nook and corner of the State so that the youth and children spend their recreational time on the playing fields. “I am of the opinion that every village in Goa should have a dedicated person looking after the welfare of sports in villages through a Government of Goa scheme. Facilities like the one inaugurated today, will offer our young and budding sports talents to develop their skills.”
“I have many more plans in improving sports facilities in our Calangute Constituency and hope to make it possible with the co-operation of the people and Government of Goa” concluded Lobo.
Salim Sayyed also addressed the gathering while Suraj Chopdekar compered.
