SERAULIM: Crozan Society Bastora defeated Sanguem SC 3-0 in the State final to clinch the Senior Women Hockey Championship organised by Goan Hockey, at Seraulim ground, recently.
At the lemon break, Crozan Society Bastora were leading by two goals. Guillaume Fernandes put Bastora side ahead in the very eight minute of the game. Maheshwari Haldenkar doubled the lead in the 13th minute.
Crossing over, Sanguem SC made good moves but could not yield results due to lack of coordination. Paranglia Palyekar gave good account of her game and also missed a sitter in the 55rd minute. In the 52nd minute, Suresh Vernakae made it 3-0.
Chief guest for the prize distribution was Valanka, PE teacher (Maria Babina Convent) while guest of honour was Anjulo P Fernandes (assistant project officer–DRDA). Also present was Benny, secretary Goan Hockey.
