MAPUSA: Crozan Society, Bastora and Young Sports, Mapusa emerged champions in the men’s and women’s sections respectively, in the all-Goa six-a-side hockey tournaments organised by Goa Mavericks Sports Club at SAG Complex, Peddem, Mapusa. They won Rs 10,000 each.
Crozan and San Antonio Warriors were locked 1-1 in regulation time. Mylen netted for Crozan and Pandurang equalised with seconds remaining. In the 3-stroke tie-breaker, Swapnil and Onkar were spot on for Crozan. Pandurang scored for San Antonio Warriors.
In the women’s, Young Sports and Crozan were deadlocked goalless. Diksha Chaudhari and Nikita Naik ensured victory in the tie-breaker.
The runners-up had to be content with Rs 8,000 each.
Diksha Chaudhari, Elika D’Souza, Prajwala Harmalkar in women’s and
Aban Sheikh, Nilesh Poro, Siddharth Hegde in men’s were awarded individual prizes.
Mr. Atul Pai Kane, President, Goa Mavericks gave away the prizes.
