CRS workshop begins today

PANJIM: After six years of introduction of the Central Registration System, the Goa Football Association has finally taken the initiative of introducing and implementing the same in the State to keep themselves moving along with the time and for the betterment of the Clubs and the players.
The CRS course will commence today, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
“We had been trying to implement the CRS since 2013 but we failed to do it. We had started it as a pilot project but it only came into the force in 2015. But till now only four States — Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Kerala are following the same,” said All India Football Federation (AIFF) Head Player Status and Registration Department Head Sankalp Pujari.
“We started it phase wise as beginning with the I-League/ISL clubs and from 2015 we gave access to the clubs directly to feed their data. In 2017 we accomplished the target of getting all the players on the system, who were playing in the National League,” added Pujari.
CRS has been practised by most of the clubs, who are plying in their trade in the National League i.e. I-League, ISL, Junior I-League, Sub Junior I-League, Indian Women’s League etc.
Now with the advancing world, FIFA has decided to bring their amendment of regulations on the status and transfer of players into force from October 1, 2019. The move will also ensure the amateur players get registered on the CRS.
“The move to go on CRS will help the clubs to keep a track of players as well and the most important part is that it will keep a track of the player and his age,” explained Pujari giving an example of Jamshedpur FC’s Gourav Mukhi who has been suspended for six months now.
“There is no age limit to register in CRS as those below five can also register. But once a player is registered, there is no way they can change the date of birth in future.
Pujari also highlighted the importance of Competition Management System and said, “ We will also train the official to maintain the CMS which will keep the entire track record of the player match by match and will be available at any time of need,” added Pujari.
A team will have to pay Rs 100 per year for those playing in the State league wherein the fee will be shared equally by the National and the State association.
