KIRBHAT-NUVEM: Cuncolim Union got the better of Guirdolim Sports Club 3-1 to enter the semi-finals of the Parish Youth Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Parish Youth Nuvem, at Jesus Mary and Joseph Church ground, Nuvem, on Tuesday.
Cuncolim striker Daulat Dessai missed two scoring chances in the sixth and eighth minutes. Guirdolim’s Succour Fernandes also had a chance to put his team ahead in the tenth and 12th minute but fumbled.
Bharat Gauncar opened the account for Cuncolim Union in the 16th minute.
Three minutes later, Cuncolim’s goal scoring machine Daulat Dessai doubled the lead in the 19th minute to make it 2-0.
Post-resumption, in the 56th minute, Alister Fernandes made it 3-0 in favour of Cuncolim Union. Guirdolim’s Benson Fernandes pulled a goal back in the 65th minute.
Guirdolim tried their best to get back into the game but their strikers fumbled with the chances that were created.
Cuncolim Union’s Bharat Gauncar was adjudged as the man-of-the-match.
Cuncolim Union will now meet Betalbatim Sporting on August 29 in the semi-finals.
