Cuncolim Union executive members rule out the allegations made by some members

Margao: The President of Cuncolim Union has denied all the allegations leveled by a few life time members of the club. In a press conference held in Margao, Suraj B Ambe President said all the payments made were through cheques. He stated that they would hold the AGM before October. He also pointed out that they had called the AGM in April 2019 but the government’s directive against people over 50 assembling in one place put paid to the plans.

The executive Committee was now in the process of conducting the AGM. With regards to claims of corruption in the summer camp, he said it was conducted by Armstrong Vaz, a club member with club funds. Coaches were Shyam Gawali and Shrikant Dessai who were ex players of the club. They had not received payments but it seems Raymond DSouza who was in the opponents group and Pinky Fernandes both coaches of GFDC  had received payments by cheque.  

The receipts and signs of the coaches were displayed at the press conference. 

In reply to press questions about the notices, the president informed the press that he would reply to the notice. He claimed that some of the members wanted to take charge in order to make the registration of a person from a local club. He further pointed out that the Constitution has given them the power with regards to the appointment of the members and this was not the first time. 

On the issues of the membership, Glamsor Goes Secretary informed the press that they were trying to bring in casteism in the club and the present management had not taken a single membership in this manner. He revealed they were calling through mobile phones and demanding 20 to 50 member shop forms per person. Not giving into such measures resulted in claims being made on Facebook that it was an illegal committee.
