SIRLIM: Cuncolim Union edged past Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 4-3 to move into the quarterfinals of the 23rd All Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village tournament, at Our Lady of Hope church ground, Chinchinim, on Monday.
In the eighth minute, Cuncolim Union went in to the lead through Daulat Dessai. Don Bosco could have levelled but for a brilliant save by Cuncolim Union keeper Vicky Naik.
Cuncolim Union scored their second goal with Trijoy’s curling free-kick.
Don Bosco came strong and scored two goals in quick succession in the 29th and 30th minutes through Hanselem Furtado and Roque Borges respectively.
In the second half, Trijoy completed his brace in the 36th minute. Cuncolim were reduced to 10-men as Trijoy was shown the red card for a reckless tackle. Daulat made it 4-2 in the 53rd minute.
In the dying minutes, Roque scored his second goal for DBO Fatorda to make it 4-3.
