Cuncolim Union prevailed over Varca Sports Club 6-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of Chandor Seamen football tournament organised by Chandor Club at Chandor ground, on Sunday. Cuncolim were trailing 0-2 at half time.
Varca enjoyed a lion share of exchanges and repeatedly raided the rival citadel and were rewarded when Columban Noronha struck twice within ten minutes to give his team a 2-0 cushion.
Crossing over, Cuncolim fought gallantly and reduced the margin when Deepak Velip converted a spot kick. Daulat Dessai struck the late equaliser in the second half.
In the penalty shoot-out, Deepak Velip, Myron Fernandes, Wellington and Ryan were on target for Cuncolim while Quellon and Maxwin converted for Varca.
