SANVORCOTTO-CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Union SC outplayed United Club of Benaulim SC 7-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the 10th Cuncolim Union inter-village rolling football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union, at Cuncolim ground, on Saturday.
Cuncolim’s goal scoring machine Daulat Dessai opened the score-line with a placement shot in the 15th minute. Five minutes later, Trenoy Dias missed a chance to score for Cuncolim. It was Cuncolim’s Bharat Gaonkar who doubled the lead in the 22nd minute.
Four minutes later, United Club of Benaulim through Joshua Cardozo made it 1-2. Thereafter in the 28th minute, Cuncolim’s Allister Fernandes made it 3-1. Benaulim’s Joshua Cardozo made it 2-3 in the 32nd minute.
In the second half, Bharat Gaonkar made it 4-2 for Cuncolim in the 40th minute. Minutes later, Bharat Gaonkar made it 5-2 for Cuncolim. Melvin Fernandes and Shahafaz Shaik also recorded their names on the scoresheet to make it 7-2 for Cuncolim in the 66th and 68th minutes respectively.
Cuncolim Union will now meet CDC Chinchinim in the quarter-finals on October 17.
