RAIA: Cuncolim Union scored a solitary goal win over hosts United Sports Club of Seraulim 1-0 in the All-Goa inter-village Seraulim Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at the panchayat ground, Seraulim, on Sunday.
Cuncolim Union scored the all-important goal in the 26 minute of the first half through their star striker Dulat Dessai following a defensive lapse.
At the breather, Cuncolim Union lead 1-0.
In the second half, USC of Seraulim were all out and put a lot of pressure on the Cuncolim Union defence. However, were unfortunate to score.
On the first occasion, Senatro after dribbling a couple of players saw his try hit the crossbar. Thereafter, Nayab who used his heel to score from just a couple of yards saw his try hit the pole. The Seraulim boys were all out for an equaliser. Dickson try went inches away from the goal post. Luck just did not favour the Seraulim boys and had to settle with a 1-0 defeat.
Chief guest Sima Shake along with guest of honour Fr Jose Gomes, special invitees Zilla Panchayat members Vania Baptista, Franzel Fernandes and panchas Lazly Dourado, Angela Dourado, Felicio Fernandes, Domingos Jilu Fernandes and Alina Fernandes distributed the prizes and trophies to the winners, runners-up and other individuals.
