MARGAO: Cuncolim Union overcame United Club of Utorda 1-0 to cruise into the quarter-final of all-Goa Martins Cup inter-village football tournament, organized by Betalbatim Sporting Club, at Betalbatim sports complex, on Friday.
Both the teams adopted an aggressive approach and kept the crowds on their toes. They had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards misfired from hand-shaking distance.
The all-important goal came in the opening session when veteran striker Rosario Carvalho bulge the net.
Crossing over, United Club of Utorda put up a vast improved display but could not score due to tardy marksmanship. Cuncolim Union had couple of scoring chances but their forwards failed to score from hand-shaking distance.
