VARCA: Cuncolim Union defeated CAC Cansaulim 10-9 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Varca Panchayat Cup, at Varca ground, on Tuesday.
Jowet Barretto of CAC Cansaulim netted the first goal of the match with a spectacular fashioned sho in the 12th minute, but the joy was short lived when Cuncolim levelled terms through Rosario Carvalho who pounced on the ball to rifle the shot into the goal in the 46th minute.
Frazier Fernandes of Cuncolim blasted a shot outside netting of Cansaulim of a Wellington D’Souza chance. Few minutes later, Chadwick Furtado of Cansaulim curled a shot but went wide again,Chadwick placed a header but hit the rival post.
In the tie-breaker, Cuncolim Union proved to be better shooters.
