Cuncolim Union thumped Union of Chinchinim Villagers 5-1 in St Anthony Super Soccer at SAG ground, Colva on Tuesday.
The goal-scoring spree for Cuncolim Union began as early as in the 3rd minute with Joel Colaco finding the net off a pass from Franky Pereira.
Then, in a span of eight minutes, Cuncolim pumped in another three goals to take the match away from the Chinchinim side. First in the 17th minute, Dipak Velim scored off a pass from Welington, then Franky Pereira sent a rasping drive into the nets in the 21st minute and Melwyn Fernandes scored in the 25th minute to give Cuncolim Union a 4-0 lead in the first half.
In the second half though, Chinchinim Villagers showed some signs of recovery and appeared determined for a fight back. This reaped the desired result with Urbano Fernandes scoring in the 49th minute to reduce the margin to 4-1.
However, the goal was a wake up call for Cuncolim Union, who went all out to kill the match and deny Chinchinim any sniff of a resurgence.
And in the 70th minute, Cuncolim put the final nail in the coffin by pumping in the fifth goal through Franky Fernandes.
Jorex Fernandes of Union of Chinchinim Villagers was awarded the man-of-the match award.
