Curtorcares United emerge champs

PANJIM, MARCH 1 Curtorcares United defeated Goa Maroons 2-1 via the tie-breaker in 15th 7-a-side soccer tournament organised by Kuwait India football Federation to commemorate Kuwait's National Day at MOH ground, Shuwaikh on Friday.

Curtorcares United defeated Goa Maroons 2-1 via the tie-breaker in 15th 7-a-side soccer tournament organised by Kuwait India football Federation to commemorate Kuwait’s National Day at MOH ground, Shuwaikh on Friday.
Both teams tried hard to score, but all attempts proved futile.
In the penalty shoot-out, Zico Fernandes and Minguel shot on target while Joe Pereira was the lone scorer for Goa Maroons.
Earlier, Curtorcares United beat United Friends Club, Kuwait and Goans Association and DHL while Goa Maroons overcame United Goan Strikers, YRC Rising Stars and Rangers Football Club (FC Sparx).
In all 15 teams participated.
Reginaldo Lourenco, MLA, Curtorim constituency, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour, Victor Misquita, Global Express, Arnaldo Costa (former GFA member and Youth Development head – Salcete) of Curtorim, Rene Jose, Atlas Commercial Company, Kuwait and Carmo Santos.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Man-of-the-match and best goalkeeper – Francis Fernandes (Curtorcares United). Best defender – Seby Oliveiro (Curtorcares United). Best midfielder – Gabriel Fernandes (Goa Maroons). Best disciplined team – Rangers Football Club (FC Sparx).
Earlier, Amaldo Fernandes, president, Curtorcares United welcomed. Tommy Fernandes and Nicole Rebello, cultural secretaries, Curtorcares United compered. Nicholas Rebello, vice-president proposed the vote of thanks.
The main sponsor of the tournament was Atlas Commercial Co, Shuwaikh and Victor Misquita, Global Express was the co-sponsor, supported by Lucio Brian Menezes, Tom Gracias, Caitano, Carmo Santos,  Agnelo, Antonio Rebello, Victor.
