Curtorim all set to stage all-India volleyball

PANJIM, APRIL 23 The picturesque village of Curtorim is agog with excitement as the 8-day all-India invitational volleyball tournament organised by Wilred Leisure Sports Club will be unfolded on Saturday, April 25 at church court, Curtorim. The final is slated for May 2.

The picturesque village of Curtorim is agog with excitement as the 8-day all-India invitational volleyball tournament organised by Wilred Leisure Sports Club will be unfolded on Saturday, April 25 at church court, Curtorim. The final is slated for May 2.
With the unnecessary controversy over the site of the volleyball court finally put to rest, the St Alex Church ground wore a festive look, albeit with the organizers having to incur extra expenditure. And, with the ONGC players displaying their skills and technique, there was no doubt that the spectators would be treated to a fare of high standards, thus giving the much-needed fillip to volleyball which for the past several years has been in a moribund state.
Five reputed all-India teams have been invited  – ONGC Dehradun, Southern Railway of Chennai, DRDO of Hyderabad, Punjab Police and Bharat Petroleum, Kerala. The sixth, will the Goa XI, which is expected to put up a good show and prove that Goan volleyball is on the upswing.
There will be two matches daily, starting at 8 p.m. The organizers have kept a limited season pass worth Rs 150 with the  daily ticket being priced at Rs 30, which will be available at the ground.
The organizers stated that there will be lots of other attraction like live band, fireworks, ball jugglers and housie with attractive cash prize of  Rs 2,000.
