AGASSAIM: Curtorim Gymkhana came from behind to score a 2-1 win over SCC Loutolim to move into the quarter-final of the 14th London Trophy inter-village football tournament, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club and played at Goa Velha Sports Club ground, on Thursday.
SCC Loutolim dominated the initial minutes of the play and successfully took the lead in the 17th minute through Shawn Noronha. Their dominance continued for the remainder of the first half and were unlucky not to increase the lead. The score read 1-0 in favour of SCC Loutulim at the break.
Curtorim Gymkhana came all out refreshed in the second half and managed to find the equaliser in the 40th minute through their reliable striker Milagres Fernandes.
Things finally took a drastic turn as Curtorim Gymkhana enjoyed better possession in the second session. Aleeward Mascarenhas scored the match-winner for Curtorim Gymkhana in the 52nd minute of play.
Brison Fernandes of SCC Loutulim was cautioned by the match referee Chandrasekhar Shirodkar.
