RAIA: Curtorim Gymkhana blanked Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao 2-0 to move into the final of 28th Arlem Trophy football tournament organized by Arlem Sports Club, at Raia panchayat ground on Wednesday.
Curtorim Gymkhana scored a goal each in each session. They opened their account in the 17th minute through Mario Mascarenhas’ rasping dive shot. Stephen Fernandes doubled the lead in the 45th minute.
Earlier, Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao defeated Calangute Association 6-5 via tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals.
Calangute Association had a golden chance to score through Alex Fernandes in the fourth minute as his low drive shot was blocked by Vardhan Haldankar, defender of CSM Taleigao in the danger zone.
CSM Taleigao worked a good set piece through Anthony Pereira’s well connected ball to Jayendra Kunkolikar but Ashyun D’Souza, defender of Calangute Association came to the rescue of his team in the 10th minute.
In the 35th minute, CSM Taleigao drew the first blood with the efforts of Jayendra off Newton Azavedo cross.
Calangute Association came from behind to level 1-1 when Blake Fernandes netted off Deep Govekar pass in the 48th minute.
At the end of regulation time, both the teams were held to a 1-1 draw. In the resultant tie-breaker, CSM Taleigao proved to be the better shooters.
Saligao SC will clash with Curtorim Gymkhana in the final on May 15.
