MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana prevailed over Uguem Rising Club, Sanguem 2-0 via the tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals of All-Goa Bernardo Furtado memorial inter-village football tournament organized by Navelim Villagers Union, at Rosary ground, Navelim, Thursday. There was no score at full time.
Curtorim Gymkhana who had smooth run in the tournament by winning four major tournament and had lion’s share of exchanges but their forwards Milagres Fernandes, Neville Fernandes and Anthony Cardozo squandered sitters.
The tale of missed chances continued in the second sessions with their forwards frittered away after reaching the rival danger zone.
Rising Club occasionally going for kill but that was not enough to trouble the rival defence
In the penalty shoot-out, Joelax D’Costa and Anthony Cardozo were successful for Curtorim Gymkhana while none converted from Uguem’s Rising Club, Curtorim Gymkhana goalkeeper Johnson Bhagat was the hero in the penalty shoot-out as he effected four saves.
