MARDOL: Curtorim Gymkhana beat St Anthony SC, Marna 4-3 to move into the quarter-finals of Mardol Trophy played at Mardol ground, on Friday.
Milagres Fernandes found the breakthrough in the 10th minute for the Curtorim side making it 1-0 before Nelson Fernandes doubled the lead off a well executed free kick in 17th minute.
The Curtorim side went on to score yet another goal through Milagres in 35th minute to make it 3-0.
Post resumption, St Anthony SC, Marna came back stronger and tried to get back into the game with constant attacks on the rival citadel and their hard work paid off as Vipul Pednekar scored his team’s first in the 55th minute making it 3-1.
The Curtorim side netted yet again as Milagres Fernandes completed his hat-trick to consolidate their lead in the 57th minute.
The Marna side narrowed the margin in the 58th minute as Pushpraj made it 2-4 before Claudio netted the third goal to keep their hopes alive in the 60th minute.
St Anthony’s SC tried their level best to net the equaliser but the rival defence stood solid rock.
