RAIA: Curtorim Gymkhana secured a place in the last eight defeating the nine man Dramapur Sports Club 4-2 in the 49th Chandor Seamen football tournament match played at Chandor ground, on Sunday.
Anslem Fernandes opened the account for Curtorim Gymkhana in the 11th minute in a one to one situation with the rival custodian.
The first half was a treat to the eyes of spectators. The Dramapur SC boys went all out but could find the rival net. Curtorim Gymkhana led 1- 0 at lemon break.
Changing sides, Jaden Fernandes dribbled past the Curtorim Gymkhana defence and found the net hoodwinking the Curtorim Gymkhana custodian in the 33rd minute.
By mid second half, the nine men Dramapur SC seemed exhausted which helped Maldino Rodrigues dribbled past Dramapur SC players and scored in the 41st minute, only to complete his brace in the 43rd minute.
For Curtorim Gymkhana, there was no looking back and made some dangerous forays into the rival territory and taking advantage, Veron Fernandes took a powerful shot into the Dramapur SC goal taking their custodian by surprise in the 54th minute taking the tally to 4-1.
Dramapur SC lads gave their all though exhausted and succeeded in reducing the final tally in the 60th minute to 4-2 through Jaden’s brace.
Jaden Fernandes was awarded the man-of-the-match award.
