MARGAO: Hosts Curtorim Gymkhana overcame Ambelim Sports Club 1-0 to storm into the final of All-Goa Curtorim Villagers Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Curtorim Gymkhana, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Monday.
Perryson Fernandes, Ambelim striker had the first best chance of the match in the 3rd minute but the later shot wide. Three minutes later, Curtorim Gymkhana goal scoring machine Milagres Fernandes’ shot hit the Ambelim goal-post and went out of play.
Later, both the teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards squandered from hand shaking distance. The all-important goal was scored by Marcus Fernandes in the 66th minute with a placement shot off Milagres connect.
Curtorim Gymkhana will now meet Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in the final on October 14.
