PANJIM/MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana came from behind to beat Raia Football Club 2-1 in GFA under-14 football tournament at Curtorim ground, Friday.
Raia dominated the proceedings and forged ahead in the 14th minute when Ashton Fernandes slotted the ball past the rival goalkeeper off a long diagonal pass by Rolando Vaz from the right flank.
Stunned by the deficit, Curtorim regrouped and exerted pressure on the rival citadel and equalized in 34th minute when Macwill Fernandes’ power-packed shot from the top of the box bulged the net off a pass from Alister Rumancio Costa.
Clive Colaco scored the match-winner for Curtorim in the 58th minute.
Raia tried to get back into the game but could not get past Curtorim goalkeeper Desley Peixoto, who stood tall in protecting his citadel.
Meanwhile, Salgaocar FC crushed Dabolim YSC 19-0 at Velsao ground.
In another match, a triple strike by Rolwin Almeida helped Betalbatim Sports Club thump Young Strikers, Benaulim 6-0 at Betalbatim ground, Friday. Betalbatim led 3-0 at the breather.
Betalbatim dominated the proceedings and scored the goals at ease. Joe Almeida, Jonathan Viegas and Princeston Rebello were the other goal getters.
