RAIA: Curtorim Youth lifted the 2nd edition Tribal Football Festival Cup defeating FC Margao 3-0 organised by Youth Hostels Association of India, Margao unit, in association with DSYA at Laymati football ground, Davorlim.
In the first session, FC Margao missed to score in the 10th minute by Ariston Fernandes, while for Curtorim Youth’s Milagres Fernandes missed the opportunity.
The winning goals came in second session of the play through the boots of Milagres fernandes, Fredy Hilario and Joy Hilario.
The following prizes were awarded: Best goal of tournament – Prestly Gomes, Navelim. Best goalkeeper – Aston Fernandes, Curtorim Youth. Best defender – Fredy Hilario, Curtorim Youth. Losing semi-final teams – Davorlim FC andQuepem-Paroda Youth.
Margao MLA Digamber Kamat was the chief guest, while Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar inaugurated the tribal festival. Other dignitaries present were Arvind Kuttikar (director), Rohidas Naik and PI Pilomen Costa. John Nazareth compered the final, while Laximikanth Mangeskar proposed a vote of thanks.
