RAIA: Dados Boys scored a solitary goal win over hosts Abuja Boys in the final to emerge champions in front of a large weekend crowd in the Abuja FC inter-ward football tournament played at SAG ground, Vaddie-Benaulim, on Saturday.
The match started with hosts Alpha Boys displaying great enthusiasm and determination to score the first goal. Their efforts, however, were meticulously countered by the well-prepared defence of the Dados Boys, resulting in a goalless first half.
The second half saw a revitalised Dados Boys side, bursting with vigour. Their persistence paid off when Preton broke the deadlock, putting Dados Boys in the lead. Alpha Boys, in their quest for an equaliser, advanced their team but were not able to penetrate Dados Boys defence led by Cavin.
The winners and runners-up prizes were presented by chief guest Cana-Benaulim Panch Resica Fernandes in the presence of Nicholas Rodrigues and other dignitaries.
In an exhibition match played before the final, Benaulim Veterans defeated South Goa Veterans 4-2.
