PANJIM: Shree Damodar College, Margao won the inter-collegiate judo championship for men while Government College, Sanquelim claimed the runners-up position in the tournament organized by Goa University, at the Jubilee hall, Taleigao-Plateau, recently.
In the up to and including 56 kgs category Eswar Naik of GVM’S College won the gold while Ashish Salgaonkar of Fr Agnel bagged the silver as Hussain Shaikh of Damodar and Rajesh Chari of Government College, Quepem settled for bronze.
The up to and including 60 kgs category saw Sharma Pankaj of Dhempe bag the gold while Yatin Kerkar of Multi Faculty, Dharbandora won the silver and , Singh Amol and Makandar Shahbaz of Vidya Probodhini won the bronze.
In the up to and including 66 kgs Gold was won by Fatu Pednekar of Government College, Sanquelim, Silver by Ashwin Marathe of Caculo College, Bronze by Tejas Gawade of Government College, Khandola and Ayyaz Khan of St Xavier’s College.
In the up to and including 73 kgs Gold was awarded to Gasper D’Souza of St Xavier’s, Silver to Sandi Allauddin of Caculo College and Bronze to Amay Kawlekar of Government College, Khandola and Vishnu Khatik of Rosary College.
The up to and Including 81kgs category saw Gold bagged by Rajdeep Desai of Damodar, Silver by Shubham Bandodkar of DM’S College, Bronze by Suraj Mandrekar of Caculo College and Hemendra Sharma of Rosary College.
In the up to and including 90kgs Gold was won by Mandesh Volvoikar of Governmnet College, Sanquelim, Silver by Saibaz Bepari of Damodar College, Bronze by Mahale Ojas of Vidya Probodhini and Maheer Shaikh of St Xavier’s college.
In the up to and including 100kgs Gold was bagged by Bobby Nelvi of Damodar, Silver by Deepak Fernandes of Kare College, Bronze by Kumar Satish of Rosary College and Latif Khan of Government College, Khandola.
In the above 100 kgs Gold was awarded to Ganesh Uskainkar of Government College, Khandola, Silver to Rodney Fernandes of St Xavier’s, Bronze to Prasad Narvekar of Multi Faculty and Karapurkar Sagar of Dhempe College, Miramar.
Dr Sunder Dhuri, Director, Directorate of Students Welfare, Goa University was the chief guest and presented medals and trophies to the winners at the presentation ceremony
