Damodar EHS emerge State champs

GUDI-PARODA: Damodar English High School, Gudi–Paroda won the state final of the U-14 boys hockey tournament organized by DYSA defeating St  Anthony’s High school  of Monte Guirim 4-3, at Peddem ground, Mapusa.
 Krish Gaonkar opened the account for Damodar HS in the eighth minute of the first half through a fine flick from a pass received from Omkar Gaonkar. 
 However, the lead was short-lived as Vikram equalised for St Anthony’s in the 12th minute through  a penalty corner.
 Krish Gaonkar scored again in the 20th minute through a superb reverse hit.  Rutvik Gaonkar increased the lead for the Damodar EHS in the fifth minute of the 2nd half.  The Guirim school narrowed the lead by scoring their second goal through Vikram in the 11th minute.
 Rutvik Gaonkar scored the fourth goal for Damodar by sounding the board with a rasping hit from top of the striking circle. In the dying minutes of the second half, St Anthony’s school reduced the margin via penalty corner taken by Vikram who completed his hat-trick.
The team was coached by Headmaster Norbert Fernandes and PE Teacher Amit  A Desai.
